Marketing Summit

The first weekend in February I have been asked to be a jury member for a marketing competition / marketing summit at Wake Forest University here in Winston-Salem. The event is sponsored by Pepsi Cola and the 6 finalist marketing teams were asked to also tackle a social responsibility/sustainability issue facing the sponsor. The first part of the challenge is already handled but the second part will be given to them on Thursday evening next week and then they'll have to present it to the jury on Saturday morning.

Guerrilla Marketing fame

A recent cool advertising ad by Ontario College of Art & Design featured lots of famous folks and adrants.com found it quite interesting too. Just like me. :-)

Wordle is fun

I stumbled upon wordle.net a little while back and just remembered what a fun tool it is, and today I created a little Wordle snap shot of my guerrilla marketing blog.

JD Power baloney

Every time I see or hear an ad that features the line "According to JD Power and Associates" my mind immediately tunes out because I only expect complete marketing bullshit.

So how does that JD Power endorsement stuff actually work? Let's say you have a product that no one wants such as GM, Ford and Chrysler cars and trucks, then you call the good folks at JD Power up and based on how much money you are willing or able to pay them they give you a nice review and glass award?

Along those lines, Oreck vacuum cleaners would be a great JD Power project. :-)

A little guerrilla marketing

I feel a bit guilty about shameless guerrilla marketing on another viral marketing site. But the new Mentos microsite was just too inviting. It allows visitors to create art by popping Mentos mints out of the packaging. :-)
